Troll revisited

I’m continuig to revisit and repaint older creature designs. A troll standing in a shallow misty lake. It has just catched a fish, but it is looking directly at the viewer, startled to see you standing there. For the body of this creature I’ve been inspired by the muscular looking structures of beech trees, trying to evoke a bit of an uncanny plant-like look, but not so far that it looks like a moving tree. The creature is wearing a mask made of pine bark. I’m thinking of using this image for a boardgame that I’m developing called Snailriders, though I have to see if it fits the mood for the rest of the game.

The original image was made in 2015 and painted in watercolor. I made it quickly back then and have always wanted to repaint properly. You can see it down below.
